What is your primary goal this year? Losing weight? Getting toned? Lowering your cholesterol? Or is it just to feel good? Most people in the world share these same goals. You can bring your life to a place where you feel good and look good. Join the movement towards a healthier body and mind.
NOW is the time.
It is the time to regain control over your health, your wellness and your life. So, the next big question is: How?
One Foot in Front of the Other
Taking the steps toward regaining control over your health, wellness and life can be overwhelming. Your first step is actual STEPS. According to BMJ.com and academic research, “Best form of prevention and treatment are ‘real’ food and a brisk 22-minute daily walk”. A 22-minute brisk walk daily is a great way to jump start your metabolism and rejuvenate your spirit.
Find the stop watch on your cell phone – set it at 22 minutes and start walking. You can walk around your house, march in front of your TV, go up and down the staircase, hop on a treadmill or grab your sunglasses and head outside – for 22 minutes. That is your first goal. Do this every day.
Make an Appointment with a Dietitian
Why do you want to meet with a food and nutrition expert? Because a knowledgeable nutritionist will create a plan that is easy to follow. On your first visit, “you can expect to learn how diet impacts your health and wellbeing,” explains Michelle Caravella, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) at the Medical Arts Center* in Middletown, NJ. “It is my job to help explain your medical diagnoses and how they relate to nutrition. Together we will develop the tools for you to implement your goals and improve your health outcomes. You will leave the session knowing exactly what to do to improve your diet and lifestyle.”
Stalk Social Media
Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals is crucial to staying focused in your health and wellness journey. Thanks to the internet and social media you can ‘follow’ healthy people daily on Social Media sites like Instagram and Facebook. These people can help to inspire and motivate you. Check their status each day to see the healthy choices they make to maintain wellness in their life. Many health gurus post their food choices each day that can be easily recreated. Seeing others eating healthy and exercising can stimulate your drive and cause you 10 strive harder to keep up with your goals. Remember, if they can do it so can you. The Woman’s Health Magazine listed the top Healthy Bloggers in 2017.
Taking Control of Your Health, Wellness & Life
Use a vision board this New Year and set up a plan. Plan what you will look like and feel like this year. Decide where you are going to take your 22 steps toward a better body. Find 2 or 3 Social Media sites to follow for inspiration. And make an appointment with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to be sure your plan will work for your individual needs. As Jim Rohn says, “Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.”
